Hard Rock Cafe Penang!

The Legendary Zainal Abidin singing his hit song 'Hijau' at the Grand Launch of Hard Rock Cafe Penang.

It was like having a mini getaway. Although the drive up the road from where I live in Penang only took us barely 10 minutes.
I am so very proud of my Island Home. And now with Hard Rock Hotel Penang, we are expecting more and more visitors coming up north to visit giving us another excuse to show off our beautiful Island :)
The kind and generous crew at the Rockin' Hotel treated us like Rock Stars! Beautiful Beatles artwork lined the halls and lobby of the Hotel. It was like Casuarina was never there. Everything about the place was new and spunky.
We were very pleasantly surprised at what they've done with the rooms of what used to be the old Casuarina Hotel. Funky new furniture fit for a Rock Star and a gorgeous painting of Ray Charles decorated a wall in the bathroom. Made us feel right at home ;P And the sheets... Ah... Those guitar printed sheets were so comfortable we nearly overslept and missed cocktails!

Not only did we party like Rock Stars, we also partied like Rock Star Royalty. His Royal Highness Sultan Sharafuddin of Selangor graced the launch together with his entire extended Royal family and partied with us (or rather we partied with them ;P) till the 'break of dawn'!

I would like to extend my sincerest gratitude towards Elisa Saw and the entire crew at the Hard Rock Hotel Penang for putting us up and treating us like Rock Star Royalty during the launch. And on behalf of my parents, Thank you for the vegetarian friendly buffet!

Out with the Old in with the New...

... And what a wonderful 2 months it has been :)

My last post was posted via my loyal companion of 4 years a few minutes before it was stolen from my bag. Those of you who know me well enough know that my Z610i needed to retire badly and oh yeah... the eclipse... Will always remember that Moon.

Hope you guys are still around. Hello?
Yes... Sorry... Will try to update more often from now. TRY being the operative word.
And many thanks to my 12 followers. You guys are the best.
Still following?

Do you know who this is?

I asked Chanthuru if he knew who the guy on my bag was and without a thought he said, 'Michael Jackson!'

:-D

Khoo Kongsi looks exceptional tonight. Left my camera at home. Shouldn't have. Knew I'd regret it.
Can hear the gongs outside. Think our CM just arrived.

Butterflies are making me a little dizzy. Butterflies are good. They fuel. They remind you that this is it. They let you know it's time to Get Set cause it's Go! Go! Go!

Wish me luck!

What a Wonderful thing is the end of a String.

*This is what keeps me going*

o by the by
has anybody seen
little you-i
who stood on a green
hill and threw
his wish at blue

with a swoop and a dart
out flew his wish
(it dived like a fish
but it climbed like a dream)
throbbing like a heart
singing like a flame

blue took it my
far beyond far
and high beyond high
bluer took it your
but bluest took it our
away beyond where

what a wonderful thing
is the end of a string
(murmurs little you-i
as the hill becomes nil)
and will somebody tell
me why people let go

Sweet Music Man

Sing your song sweet music man.
They wouldn’t listen and they couldn’t see
And all they have left now are your words of peace.

Sing your song sweet music man,
You won’t be here to hold our hand like you used to,
But you'll always remain.

You’re a hell of a singer and a powerful man
but you surround yourself
with people who demand too much of you.

You touched my soul with your beautiful song,
You even had me singing along right with you,
You said I need you.

Then you changed the world with your melody
and you sang the song you had written for us
With such harmony.

Nobody sings a love song quite like you do
and nobody else could make us sing along
and nobody else could make us see
that with love we are always right.
nobody sings a love song quite like you.

Sing your song sweet music man
You travel the world with a six piece band
that does for you what you ask ‘em to.

And you try to stay young
But the songs you’ve sung to so many people
They never came back on you.

So sing your song sad music man,
You try to make them happy but in the end,
They still never understood you.

You’re still a hell of a singer but a broken man,
but you’ll keep on looking for one last fan
to sing ‘em to.

So sing your song sweet music man
We believe in you.

"Keep on with the Force, Don't Stop!"

I had the perfect childhood. Attentive and loving parents and grandfather, annoying brother, bedtime stories, hide-and-seek and of course... Music.
Thank you Mr. Jackson for providing the soundtrack to my wonderful childhood. Thank you for the Music that will continue to entertain, teach and comfort us. Through your Music, your message of Love and Hope will live in us and in our future generations forever.

"Keep on with the Force, don't stop!'

I'm not very good at this. I can't seem to put down in words what I'm feeling right now. So here are a few 'thoughts' I found which I thought would be nice to share.

*Taken from 1995's HIStory.
"Michael Jackson, the star, is a phenomenon. The hat, the single glove, white socks and loafers. He's mysterious. Theatrical. The consummate performer. From the way he moves, to the Neverland he's created as his home, it's as if he's an illusion.
The Michael Jackson I've had the pleasure of knowing for 13 years is without affectation, and is not an illusion. It must be hard for Michael to know how much the world wants to know him, to be like him, to consume him. He's wisely created his own world in which to preserve the most honest parts of his identity. Those are the parts we love the most.
Michael has a heightened sensitivity for the crying needs of this world. Through his 'Heal the World Foundation', he works to preserve this planet's most precious resources - children and the environment. He feels much of the same responsibility a parent feels - his children are all of our children. Michael brings so much to so many, he is one of the world's most precious resources himself.
Guided by his creative forces of passion, joy, work and genius, Michael has gone after his dreams and shared them with all of us. I can't wait to see where he chooses to take us next.
This collection of work comes from the most successful albums in music history. Michael is the single most awarded entertainer the world has ever known. As you listen to and enjoy his music, I'm sure you'll agree that we, his fans, are the ones who are most rewarded." -Steven Spielberg-

"You cannot say enough about what he has given to us musically and culturally. We take for granted people like him. All he wanted to do was give us great music and that's what he did. Every single day was dedicated to us." - Jamie Foxx

"Michael Jackson showed me that you can actually see the beat. He made the music come to life!! He made me believe in magic. I will miss him!!" - P. Diddy, via Twitter

"... How you suffered for your sanity. And how you tried to set them free. They did not listen. They did not know how. Perhaps they'll listen now. This world was never meant for one as beautiful as you." -Don McLean's 'Vincent'

Rest in peace my childhood friend. I will miss you... Oh... and don't forget to say 'hi' to Tinkerbell for me :)
I LOVE YOU!

Why do nursery rhymes have to be so brutal?

Was having a nice dinner conversation with my Mom and my brother the other day and were talking about the songs she used to sing to us... Unconventional and barely heard of songs like 'Three little fishies' (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sz22dv90_mY) and 'A froggy would a-wooing go' (http://www.kididdles.com/lyrics/f024.html). Then we went on to nursery rhymes... Now this is scary... I'm sure we're not the only ones who've realized this but have you ever wondered why they are almost always brutal and completely unadvisable for children?

"Ladybug, Ladybug,
Fly away home.
Your house is on fire and your children will burn"

"Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall.
Humpty Dumpty had a great fall.
And all the Kings horses and and all the Kings men,
Couldn't put Humpty together again."

Ok this one really gives me the creeps...

"Three blind mice... Three blind mice...
See how they run... See how they run...
They all ran after the farmer's wife,
Who cut their tails off with a carving knife,
Have you ever seen such a sight in your life?
As Three blind mice.

"Jack and Jill went up the hill to fetch a pail of water.
Jack fell down and broke his crown and Jill came tumbling after!"
-Where's the bloody 'moral' in that???-

... Oh... And don't get me started on 'Rock-a-bye-baby'.
Why... WHY... Would anyone wanna 'rock a baby' on a tree top?

There's more. Oh... You can bet on Humpty's mangled remains there's more...
But I won't go into that so you guys can have a little fun yourselves. Please... If you come across one that's NOT evil and brutal... Post it up on my 'comments', will 'ya?

And we wonder why our Mommy never sang us those rhymes...

Are we there yet?

First, he talks to himself. Weird. Now he's starting to annoy me. He's literally doing the cantonese version of Bart Simpson's 'Are we there yet? Are we there yet are we there yet are we there yet?' on me. We're moving at 20km/h and he's still doing it. I'm this close to jumping out of the cab. Imagine Slow Poke Rodriguez (Speedy Gonzalez's side-kick). *pulls hair*

Girly time

Lunch now Star Trek after!

ManUnited vs Barca

I wanna watch the 2nd half of the game but my eyes are extra sepet [squinty] right now. I think it just started.
Daddy and Kos making funny 'OOoo' 'AaaHhh' sounds in the living room.
Who needs to watch the game when you can get real-time results on FB and Twitter? :D

*I think Messi's kinda cute. Ronaldo too overrated. Oh... and I once shared the front page of The Sunday Star with Henry... Thought that was pretty awesome.

Whispers between the lies

f/2.5, 1/45, ISO400

I have very little to be upset about. But infinite reasons to be Happy. It's all about the choices we make and how we stick to them. Sticking to them is what makes it so hard sometimes.

I know what's right. You know what's right.
But why do we still do otherwise?
Is it the thrill?
Or the what ifs?
